    Hill Country quail

Never knew there were any wild quail in the Hill Country. Heard one this morning whistling up a storm in Pipe Creek.

All of Texas had quail, but I don’t think it was hogs, because we don’t have a lot of hogs on the caprock, but sure don’t have as many quail as we had when I was a kid

We were full of quail up until 8-10 years ago. Fire ants killed a bunch of the offspring if i remember correctly.

Flushed a small covey on our place close to Boerne last year.

              Only time we’ve seen them.

Saw one a few days ago cross 1044 a few miles south of New Braunfels.

Would love to seem em back. Great recent read below.

In good years when rain comes at the right times, in the right amounts, the Rolling Plains of West Texas can offer the best quail hunting in the country. While the storied plantations of the Deep South might match the Texas plains in numbers of coveys flushed per day, they’re tiny islands of habitat compared

3 years ago they were thick on our place in Richland Springs. Haven’t seen as many the last 2 years.

I hunted them in Coryell County in the early 90s. I miss 'em.

i enjoy watching quail when the feeder goes off. A covey can put away some corn pretty quick.

I remember seeing them on our lease outside of Utopia in Bandera county back in the mid 90s. I actually saw a bobwhite quail at my parents house in Hays county a few years ago. I took a picture and will try to find it and post it.

I see a covey (randomly) in Gillespie County on my lease. Heck, just starting seeing turkey there in the last 3 years.
