    Age this jaw

Shot a buck this past season, and was wondering what y’all think his age was based on this jaw.

    3 1/2 - 4 1/2 based off my very basic knowledge

I’d call that left side of the jaw 4

4.5, maybe 5.5. Right side looks 4.5 and left side looks 5.5 to me.

4.5? there is a place you can send to have them analyzed if you're really interested in knowing. I sent a few and it seemed pretty accurate based on my estimates. Have any trail camera pictures or harvest pictures? That would help age him.

Could you tell us alittle more . What part of Texas did you take him . If east could possibly have been eating soft grass/ food plot all his life and be alittle older . If west or south could be alittle younger depending on if he was eating dry tuff stuff. All that aside looking at pic I’d say 4 to 4 1/2

That method is not a 100% accurate either, although it is more accurate than aging by tooth wear. Like others have pointed out a lot of factors go into aging by tooth wear.

Have your local TPWD biologist look at it. I say 4.5-5.5 leaning 5.5. One thing for sure; he won’t get any older LOL
