So originally I was going to get telephone poles for the base. I may still get them but was tinkering with the idea of cutting 4 of my pine trees down. Taking the live edge off and painting them.

        Anyone have experience with this?

You're not going to have shoulder/back/neck/limb surgery and have your buddies build it again are you? LOL!!!

          Just playin' bud!!!

OP: Good looking build you got! I'm hoping to finish mine up this weekend as well.

Finished the front wall. Windows installed and working. Actually installed a cover plate over the weight system and countersunk the holes in case the system ever needed to be accessed.

Started on the second wall but didn't get any pics. Should have both sides finished next weekend.

I would think the pine trees would rot pretty quick. I'd go with the treated poles.

Not really. Basically same design houses and buildings had back in the day.

Could be the OP likes his stuff different than everyone else. Same reason I'm seriously considering an octogon roof for my octogon blind

I like the throwback engineered style windows too.

                        Nice work!

Nice blind. What kind of siding are you planning to use?

Just the OSB that's on there with about 3 or 4 coats of paint

I did that once with intentions of keeping it painted every year. 2 years later I had to pull all the OSB off, and replace with tin. Never again will I use it as a siding. Decided that if it was worth doing once, it's worth doing right. Of course, we get allot of rain down here, and its pretty humid most of the year. I like something I can set & forget.

I hope it works out for you. I always cringe a little when I see people venturing down that path. Sure would be tough to replace at 20' up.
