Every year I put in for the Mcaap control hunt. Here is a link as to why I love it so much there. No where else can you put in for a public hunt that you can only use a stick and a string to chase after a magnificent beast such as this one. I have had the opportunity to hunt Hagerman and Mcaap both, but there is just something special about hunting Mcaap.

The application process for hunting Mcaap is done by applying in the Oklahoma controlled hunts on wildlifedepartment.com website in April of every year and they usually post results right after the 4th of July. The best deer I ever saw there hunting went 184 and change a white hat shot him 2 weeks after I had a run in with him.

Everyone needs to do this hunt at least once. It's kind of rule-heavy but less than it used to be.
At one time the website had a video of a buck fight that was probably the most violent deer/deer encounter I've ever seen. I never could figure out why they took it down.
