    smokehouse coating

I'm building a very small smokehouse in my backyard, from pallet wood. I have been selecting new looking pallets made only from red oak. I am wondering what would be a good coating when I'm done. I thought about Thompson weather seal or would teak oil be good. Thanks for all input.

I just painted the outside of mine. The inside I have been treating with smoke. Sounds like a smart @#@ reply but if you are using good clean materials smoke should be all you need.

I read somewhere on a DIY site they are all treated and there was a decoder saying what they are treated with.
