DVD to internet video (mpeg, avi, wmv, etc.)

Does anyone have an easy way to take clips from a DVD and convert them to an internet format such as mpeg, avi, or wmv? I'm finally getting some of my old video camera tapes onto DVD and would like to take some clips from them for the computer.

Any ideas?

You can do a Google search and find hundreds of items that claim to be so good. I'm looking for first hand experience.

Yeppers...I use Nero to convert a DVD to a mpeg-4 file.
I'll then exporte it to a mpeg-2 or wmv

I am not feeling well at all but I basically just convert from VOB-->MPEG2(DVD) and then edit in adobe pp2.0

If i am feeling better this evening I'll type something up that is a bit more user friendly.
