Making a chiefs knife for my FIL.
O1 steel with spalted Pecan scales.
Started cutting the bevel on one side.

I got the bevel cut in both sides. I'm waiting on some finer grit belts to come in that I have on order.

I'd try 1/8. This one is 3/16 and it's way to thick for my liking.

I've used 3/32" on the few that I've made. Any thicker and the knife gets very heavy and hard to use for any length of time (if it has a long blade). Now on a clever, I'll use 1/8" to get the heft needed.

Not heat treated yet but I had to make it presentable because he will be here for Christmas tomorrow. I'll ship it to him later.
