Default Open Carry - will you show?

Once 1/1/16 arrives, who will be showing they are going full heels and who will remain concealed?

Stay concealed here.

I'll probably be like an aspiring stripper starting off at Hooters. I'll have an owb holster with an untucked shirt just to "warm up to the idea". Then later I'll build up the gumption to go completely exposed.

concealed. always nice to have the element of surprise in my back pocket. and how much you wanna bet there are gonna a ton of open carry guys who will open carry with holsters that have zero retention or use cheap paddle holsters. those paddle holsters are easy to break off your hip. and no retention device? get ready for some snatch and grab guns. believe someone will be stupid in enough to try pull that gun out of an open top holster. for guys who plan on opening carrying I'd say practice some weapon retention drills with a blue gun. make sure you know what it feels like when someone is going for that gun. open carry is nice and convenient but it has it's place.

I have been able to open carry for the last 32 years and have yet to do so. While the law does not have a legal bearing on me, I sure won't start open carrying because someone else can.

I agree with you and the full heels was a line used by Kurt Russell in Tombstone when he confronted Billy Bob Thornton at the Pharoah table.

That's exactly my thoughts. I'm not going to open carry just cause I can. If I'm at the ranch open carrying on my property and run into town I won't have to change the way I carry. Anywhere else I'm carrying concealed day all times.

I actually let my CCW expire from NC and will have to take a new one this year in LA. LA has a rule where you have to live there for 10 years or else you have to pay $150 extra dollars when you take your CCW.

Looks like they changed the law since the 4 years I have been living here and now it's only $50 extra if you haven't resided in the state of LA for 15 years prior to you applying for your permit.

Concealed!! No strategy is better than the element of surprise! You dont see the laws calling a crackhouse to let them know they are on the way do

I will open carry in the small town near our ranch when I make quick runs to town. A side arm is on my hip while I'm on our place so it's nice to not remove when running errands. In Austin or any other high population area I will carry concealed for reasons already mentioned.

I will have the liberty to make a decision for myself, thus I support open carry.

Nah, I'll stay concealed. I'm looking at it as not having to worry if my shirt is printing my carry or if my shirt is long enough to cover the muzzle.
It will be sad as this draws an end to the infamous "Wally-walks".

The only reason I would open carry is because it would be nice to be able to wear a western shirt tucked in again.

Might have another shirt or jacket over it but not have to worry about if someone gets a peek.

Other than that I see not advantage to open carry.

I would like to hear from everybody on 1 Jan 17 and get the honest truth on who has open carry ed or not. Then we could see who all has survived the wild west shootouts in the streets, and who all has had there firearms taken away from them. I belive we would see how stupid some of these comments about open carrier are.

Being "heeled" is an old cockfighting term, before fighting the roosters were "heeled" with artificial steel spurs.

I will not openly carry either. Lots of people have asked me, and I am just happy to not have to worry about printing or it showing. It will make it more comfortable to carry. No sense in drawing more attention to yourself.
