    Large Deer Blind Build

Started building my 8x7 blind back in May. Finally finished it last week and got it installed at my lease near Lampasas. It's 8x7 and is on 12ft. posts. It was a fun and challenging project. I'm glad it's over. We are ready to hunt!

How did you get it out under your 7' garage door?

It was totally disassembled. Had to build it onsite. Just standing up the platform required some engineering (Think come-along and tow straps) as it was too heavy to lift by hand. There were 3 of us, For the walls, attached a strap to some eye bolts fastened to the top of each wall while the other two pushed the wall up from the ground via ladders.

Will be heading out again this weekend to finish some details -- mount some shelves, fill some gaps and drill in a ground anchor that didn't arrive in time for the initial install. As a temporary fix we drove a T-post down next to each leg and fastened with deck screws. The earth anchor I bought is rated for around 2500lbs. and will look to run a steel cable from the bottom center of the blind into a turnbuckle attached to the anchor. Hopefully that will keep it immobile.

Well.... I did put a solar panel on the roof. :-) I'll hook it all up and in the short term be able to charge iPads and phones. Long term I may add a converter and add a cell tower amplifier and try to pull in a distant Verizon tower so I can install a mobile data enabled game camera and start getting pics to my phone.
