Default My New Mexico Muley and close encounter of the elk kind.

Finally, I was able to put an arrow into my first muley. Had to make a 71 yard shot. My guide spotted him at 80 yards, I closed the gap to 71 yards before I had to let one fly. Video of elk to follow.

Here is a video of something that most hunters will not get an opportunity to experience. Made the trip for me.

It is if you practice a lot at that distance and further. There was absolutely no wind when it happened, so the conditions were good. I would have rather had a 20 yard shot, but hunting out west, you have to be prepared to shoot at longer distances.

I think the taxidermist injects it with a preservative (formaldehyde?). I left it at the taxidermist in Chama.

You have to be able make long shots hunting out west. I killed my antelope buck at 75 yards
