Carnage had whiped them out one by one with his patented Texas heart shot! Wish he would have left some for the rest of us

Been some good hunting weather lately. Misty and foggy days are great. The hogs keep foraging in daylight, and damp grass and brush makes less noise.

Sore finger is one of the hottest spots in the winter. I'll probably see you out there soon.

I was out in the San Gabriel unit scouting around and saw lots of good signs but one thing I've noticed everytime I go out there is blinds set up, now I wouldn't be one to mess with anyone's blind as I wouldn't want anyone messing with mine but is there like a unwritten rule yall have hunting out there in someone else's blind that has obviously sat there for quite some time. Also, baiting.....does anybody bait?

That was behind Primitive Camp, looks allot like blood weeds by 6 (Florida Point) which I presume was your location.

I use unoccupied ground blinds whenever convenient. I usually hunt alone and so am leery of using unoccupied tree blinds.

I have had no luck baiting with hog pipes or buried food; they come after legal hours and have a feast, and are gone before dawn.

I occasionally see timed spin-cast feeders set up. I assume they are effective but I would never leave that much expensive hardware out for the taking.

I have never seen any swamp chickens of all the years I've hunted out there nor heard em! Rabbits are alright but little tough to hunt in the high grass. And I've thought about laying out pig pipes in secluded areas but I still wonder about the indecent humans that have some sticky fingers...anyone ever get stands, feeders, or cameras stolen?

Coyotes keep the rabbits in check pretty well, they are few and far between. There are a few turkey, but not near as many as there used to be.

Squirrels on the other hand are plentiful.

Good rabbit hunting east of granger dam spillway parking lot. There is a close hedge row of briars that goes for a couple hundred yards. U need dogs though..my labs chase rabbits like a beagle

Thanks! I got busy at work last year...now I'm back. That was the first pig I got with a bow. It stuck its head out to see what was happening. Wasn't quite between the eyes, but close. Didn't get it mounted but that would have been funny. I was thinking I need to try and recreate that shot soon.

That is an unreal amount of pigs, and to think that many pigs can be so elusive to people hunting. Going out today to try and bust my first granger pig, hunted granger since I was 16 and never was able to get one! Seen plenty but never close enough!

Saw about 10 hogs today roughly 80yds away, stalked in on them in a thick wooded area and couldn't ever keep up or get close enough in range to get one, definitely be back out there this week!
