    arrow length question

I've been experimenting with arrow spine choices for my longbow. I'm shooting a Bear Montana with a 55# draw at 28". I've tried a few different Heritage shafts all at 31" and the 350's shoot best at that length with 125gr field tips. I have not tried BH's yet. I'm comfortable with this length since the BH would be a bit further from my hand. Is there a downside to a longer arrow if properly spined for the length? I know it will weigh a bit more, but to me that is a bit of an advantage. Is there an advantage to a shorter arrow? Any thoughts are appreciated.

No disadvantage what so ever. If the arrows fly great with the BH's, I'd say go with it. My draw is 31" so I shoot full length arrows that are usually around 32 1/2".
