Had one that big in my front yard until a few years ago. Being from NE TX, Loved it. Lost it to pine borers. Lost several that year, much younger/smaller. Sad cause there aren't many pines in our area.

Yep. Loblolly pine. Aka oilfield pine. Plenty where you are.

And the tap root goes to China. I’ve had to dig them up with a dozer and they are tuff !

We always called them "field" pines because they grew out in the open where the limbs could get sunlight and develop. Plantation pines have to go straight up to get sunlight.
