After buying a boat a few month back I just can not get into the hunting thing. I need to get to the lease and move a couple stands and fill some feeders but on my four days off of work all I want to do is fish. I fish atleast 3 of the four days. My wife has fell in love with the hole fishing thing also and is now wanting to try and hunt this year. This is after 15 years of hateing that I am gone all the time during the hunting season. I know when hunting season get closer I will want to shoot more and go to the lease, but we just can not stay off of the water. My wife is even asking to go fishing and I dang sure can't tell her no . What is a brother to do. Has anyone else felt this way.

Every year. I got the fishing bug bad this year. Seems right after duck season ends I find myself in a deep depression, well until those first few warm days of march. I think I have fished for just every weekend in April and May, this is the first weekend I havent fished in a good while. It does help if you g/f or wife likes to do what you do. Right there with you brother.

got to agree with "JMG" on days the wind is up that is the time to do the chores at the lease and on nice sunny days or even early in the morning go to the fishing spots.
As the summer gets closer I like to fish early in the morning and late in the eveing,
then sometime in between is when I try to get all of my other chores done, but I 'm one in a few {in my family} who likes being outside all the time. Have fun and be safe on the lakes!! Good for your wife too, now you got a fishing partner.

believe me.... the fishing bug won't last. Around october on those awesome looking bluebird days, you're going to take your boat out, and not catch anything... you'll do that about 4 or 5 times, and start cussing your boat, and why you ever bought it.
then it will start getting colder, and you're not going to want to bundle up to go fishing...
you will get your bow and camo out and complete the lifecycle...
trust me

I know, another thing is I have a turnaround at work begining Sep. 23 all the way to Thanksgiving. That blows me out of all the good hunting in East Tx. I love to fish the cold that doesn't bother me.I think I will head to the lease next week and do what I need to do.
BTW, Did I mention my lease is about 5 minutes from Toledo Bend and I stay on Rayburn.
