I've got about 8 - 10 does hitting two of my feeders which happen to be in food plots on a regular basis. I don't have much luck with the big bucks actually hitting feeders but they will scent check the plots and are making scrapes in the oaks that surround them. That's where i plan to spend most of my time trying to figure out which scrapes are the most frequented will be the next task then set stands for different winds. I've got blinds for the kids to sit in at both these locations to ensure they see game and keep interested but with all three in sports...Ö.they haven been up there. I really need to find the time to harvest about 5 doe but somehow I always end up working just as much as I hunt. good luck everyone and congrats to those who have already hammered one.

Acorns are not there this year guys, not saying you donít have a tree or 2 dumping them but as a whole they will not dump again until next year. I know the rut is fun but start dumping feed to them end of November and get ready for December, donít hunt on feed but hunt between bed and food and should be a good year. My favorite time of year. I try to take off December every year. Itís been good to me. I probably wonít make it to December this year because Iíve narrowed in on 2nd target bucks bedding area and does heís breeding so hope to close out early this year. But you feeder guy buckle up for December, should be good.

Yup late season should be fun with little natural browse this year.

Are you guys seeing bucks late season at feeders during daylight?

Last year seemed to be all nocturnal.

Last year there was 50 metric tons of acorns on the ground. Feeders should be good this year.

What i found would work back when we would run feeders I would hand corn away from the feeders 50-75 yards and had good success doing that.

Thatís good hunt them suckers, like crack to deer which Iím sure you know. All the places Iíve been on this year were slim to none. But thatís just in my little corner. Antlers, Clayton, and honobia. I live on 200 acres of oak trees and river bottom and I have to run deer out of the yard because I have winter wheat planted. They just stare at me like hey dude we need you to fill some feeders.

Full moon make anyone else hunting slow this weekend? Saw lots of deer but just in spurts then nothing for hours. Was not even getting midday movement that I usually see on full moon. Made for to very long all day sits.

I hunted the Wednesday-Sunday of muzzleloader season after the big rains moved through. Movement was non-existent, had to do some still hunting and ended up coming home with a big doe. Didn't see anything besides those few does moving between food and cover mid-morning.

The boy and I hunted Saturday through Monday. Had some beautiful sunrises in the mountains.

Had one of our target bucks come in directly under us on Saturday morning and feed on hand corn at 18 yards. When I glanced down to see him right under us and then look at Will to see him staring wide-eyed back at me, I knew he caught a glimpse of antlers and a swollen neck!

Long story short we werenít able to get a shot off. Awesome encounter. Had does and yearlings come in and feed for a while.

Saw deer on every sit. Movement was pretty good but we were set up adjacent to hardwoods.

Sunday night we hunted on Little River and put a doe on the ground. She and her compadres were on the hand corn like a magnet.

She was healthy, rolling in fat.

Monday morning it was back to the wheel bow.

Judging from the way the deer and squirrels were on the hand corn Iíd say that the acorns are close to playing out. Also, I didnít see any chasing but I am noticing bucks with their noses to the ground and checking the wind. Pretty sure the fun times are nearly upon us.

God is good.

Hoping the good times start soon...I was in the stand from last Thursday through Monday..not much moving but I had mid day encounters with both target bucks just couldn’t get one to cooperate with a shot. Other than those two encounters it was does and small bucks. Beats any day at work but definitely looking forward to some better action!

Hunted Tuesday-Sunday. Morning movement every day. Little to no buck action. Hitting hand corn hard eating the 3-5 pounds we put down every hunt.

I had the biggest mistake of my bowhunting career on Wednesday. Had one of the biggest bucks we have had this year come in following a doe. He stood dead downwind with only 6-8ft of elevation differences and had me pegged for 4 minutes. The doe ment more to him than I did. I rushed a shot and made a bad shot. Backed out and waited 17 hours to track with a dog to no avail. Searched the following few days and nothing. Maybe he survived but I doubt it as there were gut matters on the arrow. Learned alot from my mistakes and hope to do better in the future. Just so disappointed in myself. Been waiting for years and passing on younger deer just to screw it up when it was game time. Still trying to get over it. Not sure I will for a long while.

I am sorry to hear this. It happens to the best out there, Tim.

All I can say is that you put yourself in the position on a quality animal and got to full draw which is more than a lot can say. I hate that you were unable to recover this buck.

Praying for a set of salvaged antlers for you on your next trip up.

Thatís tough bud, the deer will probably die so like bommer said go salvage his horns.

Iím getting my butt kicked on a old old old deer here. Deer probably wonít break 160 but one of the toughest deer Iíve hunted in a while. Spends to much time on someone elseís property. Maybe these up coming cool nights will get the deer back to moving a little bit.

If you guys can afford to feed them right now they are hungry hungry, no acorns to speak of.

I come to check this thread every year thanks for doing it. I hunt in honobia been out since Thursday and staying all week haven’t been seeing any movement. Been on the bottom wondering if I should hunt some ridges. Have one big 8 that made some big scrapes and a big rubs late October but haven’t seen him since. Thanks

Posting up for 3whunt. Dandy buck and heck of a Dad keeping your stand hunted for you while you were away! One of these days you can pass that favor on to your boy. LOL.

Looks like he lived a long life!

Thanks for sharing.
