I’m the process of building a new house and shop. Each will probably need 200 amps. Would you go with separate meters or run everything through one and then split?

Normally when installing two bases (meters) in Collin county they charge a base (meter) fee for each one. I believe it's $16.00 each here. Even with that, I would run two separate meters.Comment

There’s really not an advantage of one over the other from a performance standpoint. Only reason it may be worth considering to separate them would be if the shop were to be used as a business and utilities costed to the business.
