Water is high. Out there last weekend and the main road behind the office was closed due to water.

They are saying the water should be below the roads next week and then they will be doing repairs the following week.
The corps are releasing 187,000 gallons per second freon the dam.

It may be some of the snakiest country in Texas - especially when the water is up!

Timber rattlers, moccasins and copperheads galore in those bottoms...throw in a few coral snakes too!

I enjoy snakes, so I always look forward to trips at the H!

I'm heading up there in a couple weeks for a few days. I have some areas marked on Google maps in all three units so I can at least have a few spots picked out for segment A. I'm assuming the prevailing wind in November will be either south or north.

Roads just opened. Still pretty wet though.

Water levels down and Roads are open. It's hot and windy, but I've been hiking around a lot. November 1 can't come soon enough.
Someone needs to start the segment threads.

I've been in parts of Harris and Meyers since yesterday and haven't seen any acorns dropping. Haven't seen crap for fresh sign neither. Gonna try big mineral today and in morning. Lots of ground to cover.

Had a fantastic day at the H today. Found 25+ rubs, 5-7 scrapes, saw 17 deer, 4 bucks, and think I have some good spots picked out. Ready to get started out there in less than 3 weeks!

If anyone knows about Harris creek and doesnít mind sharing a little info, and answering a couple of questions, shoot me a PM.

I was out there today, saw many pigs and even stepped on a cotton mouth. Glad I was wearing my snake boots, he wasnít too happy. Looks like they had a light frost as it killed some of the underbrush that was thriving from the rain fall over the last couple months.

Are they not planting or just waiting on better conditions?

I need to get up there

It looked like something was planted in Harris around Cowhill Trail. Just starting to come up. I could be wrong cuz I'm not a farmer.

I haven't spent too much time in Harris and didn't see anything planted. Maybe they have planted over there. I know the two wheat fields in Big Mineral have not been planted in some time. I noticed they mowed strips into both of those fields though in Big Mineral.

Only fields I saw that were coming up were around the office and had just started to germinate.
