Harbor seafood and oyster bar in Kenner is pretty darn good. Especially since I go in and out of that airport a lot and it's close by.
Have to go to cafe du monde and down bourbon street as a right of passage.
I've heard the WW2 museum is pretty good, will hopefully be going myself on Wednesday before I ship offshore.
I'm sure Cajun Blake can give a dozen recommendations.

Willing to spend extra on good food.

Just got back home this afternoon after spending 4 days in New Orleans
Stayed at the Embassy Suites in the Quarter which had a free breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, bacon, grits, oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt, omelette, bagels, toast, coffee, 4 different juices, hash browns, etc... took Uber pretty much where we wanted to go with most expensive fare $9.00.
Ate at TuJaques for lunch Sat. and is was okay. Ate at K-Paul’s Friday pm and is was incredible. Last night ate at GW Fins and it was off the freakin chain, likely the best meal I’ve ever eaten !! They specialize in fresh caught seafood and prepare in that night.
For apps we had charbroiled smoked oysters, pork belly, seafood gumbo, lobster dumplings, tuna tartare, and BBQ shrimp. Entrees wife had crusted pan seared sheepshead, cousins had blackened swordfish and Chilean sea bass in bok choy, and I had Scalibut .. halibut topped with scallops. GWF is arguably the best restaurant in NOLA as the fish dishes are amazing
Definitely do the WWII museum tour as it will take you 4-5 hours to do everything including the movies. It was recently voted as the #2 museum in the world. Jackson square and going inside the St Louis Cathedral are a must.
I grew up in NOLA and took my cousins from Chicago on a tour of the city and educated them on the history. Text me if you need any help or have questions

Hotel
Seafood – DO NOT GO TO Acme Oyster House. Too much for to little and low quality. Only tourist go there. Deanies, has the best prices and quantity. Order the half platter, and you will be stuffed. Deanies is locally owned and just opened there w/n 5 years.
The Original Pierre Maspero's is a local favorite for casual French Quarter dining in a historic atmosphere.
Burgers
Beignets
Steaks – Dickie is $$$$.
Your celebrations, our steaks. Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse has been perfecting the art of beef. We grill our chops, sear our strips, oven-roast our prime rib and broil our filets and the same level of attention extends to the service.
Drinks
Pat’Os…if you buy a hurricane drink, you are purchasing the glass. Ask for a cup and get $3 off.
The Old Absinthe House is one of New Orleans’ most prominent historical landmarks. It has been visited, written about, and memorialized by many famous writers.

I don't where to stay down there, just throwing out an icon. Never know, might get a deal There's a brand new place in Metairie on Severn, think its about $100 a night. There's so much violence in the Quarter, we kind of eat and run when we go down.
