Those are male Painted Buntings. Females are a kind of drab green in color. It helps them to better camouflage themselves as they sit on the nest.

Great pic, perfect timing. Really dig that little guy on the bottom of the pic, just hangin’ those feet all cool like and showing off for the lady buntings. Colors on the other little guy really show up against the water, and the feathers spread out on his wings look awesome.
