I live in the section that is right across the street from that pond. When I moved in there the pond was there with no houses. Everynight you could hear coyotes and see deer almost every day. Growing up I had cousins that lived in Westbourne and we would ride dirt bikes back to the bayous and shoot nutrea. Now I try to ride my three wheeler back to the gullies and people pitch a fit.

Those coyotes were pretty dumb or very hungry. My buddy that lived there would carry a rifle on the tractor when he fed cows. He was able to run one over with the john deere

249/Northpointe area for me. Actually a little closer to Shaw and Grant but those are not as well known.

I know that area very well. Killed PILES of doves off shaw back in the day. High school best friends family had 150 acres where the school is now. That pond with houses around it was a dove magnet and the pine trees had some decent deer in it. Many a saturday night we would ride ATVs from shaw to 249 and down to boudreaux and back with a cooler of cool ones. Bouddreaux and 249 was a stop sign

I live in the section with the big lake right now. Before this neighborhood was built I had a house that backed up to Faulkey gully when all the woods were still around. I used to see some big deer in the mornings. We sold that house when they started clearing on the opposite side of the gully from Village Creek. When the clearing started the game wardens moved in pretty heavy and we stopped seeing the deer. We used to ride our 4-wheelers back to the pond and had miles of trails everywhere. I miss when I had that kind of access to ride. However, the view from that old house is now just other houses across the gully.. In the new neighborhood there is a Facebook post or call to the police if you just start a loud bike/4wheeler/car, it is kind of pathetic! I keep reminding myself that I just have to stick it out here until my daughter graduates and then we can move to land again!!
