I had mine out this weekend. Using the remote (wifi stays on), I can turn the camera off/on and get well over 3 hours use. Not 3 hours total recording time. Turn off or on as needed.

This is probably a stupid question, but do you need wifi to use the remote for the GoPro?

Not a stupid question.

The wifi is just between the camera and the remote. The camera has wifi within and the remote picks up on it.

You don't need anything additional, just the small remote and camera.
