    Axis roast Recipe?

Buddy from work gave me a Axis roast. So can I cook like a beef or venison roast in a crockpot?
    OR
would i be better off slicing/chicken fry
    OR
slicing and do a smothered steak version?

    Never had Axis.
    Thanks

Any of those will be good...axis is very good on the table. If you decide to do a roast in the crock pot just be sure and add some beef bouillon (sp?) as it won't make much of a broth on its own. I usually start it off by seasoning the meat itself with whatever I am in the mood for. Then I place it in the crock pot with onion, bell pepper, celery, bouillon and water. I add enough water to cover about half the roast. Then I turn it on and let it go. About an hour or so out from the dinner bell I will add carrots and potatoes if you want them.

How do y'all cook your axis steaks/backstrap? Any different than whitetail? I've got one on ice right now. Thanks.
