Was playing with some cameras to check them out before putting them back out in June and found a couple more AJ pics and one elk. This is AJ's home feeder and one of 5 now that Elk has visited.

Gives you an idea of the width of AJ. I'm figuring around 97 up. If he leaves this feeder and heads to the other feeder, he goes right by my tripod.

I just got back from the ranch NE of Laredo. This was our first month to start hunting for deer that we want to hunt this next year. Two of the above bucks, Elk and AJ, were pretty much 1 and 2 on my list. Disappointment.

AJ's right side is a mess. Only thing I can figure is that he hurt himself after February, or that a hog hunter shot him before he lost his rack and it didn't kill him. I hope they give him another year. He'll be at most 7 1/2 next year. Hopefully he'll get his rack back.

Elk really is messed up. If you look back on the first page at the last pic of him in his initial picture series, you'll see how poor he was. He's a lady's man. He ran himself downl. I was afraid it might affect him this year since he was so poor late in the year, and my fears have come to fruition. He looks to have his big, high frame, but his right side is basicly a big 6 point. I'm going to try and get them to give him a pass. He's not the biggest buck on the block, but I like that high frame. Hopefully he doesn't get put into the cull/management buck pool. I'll lobby for another year.

He hangs with AJ. It's strange that they both would have similar problems the same year and at the same age.

Potbelly Pig looks pretty good. He's a solid 10 this year. Long brows and good points. Still narrow. Still heavy. He has moved up the list. I do have TC's of a good deer that's come out of the blue. I tried to get video of him, but nothing much was moving and my tripod sits resulted in sightings of two skunks and a 5 point. The deer I'm looking for is basicly a 9, but may have a really short 4 on the right. He has double split brows. Maybe 150 class. I'll be searching long and hard for this critter.

Here's the pig

Some of us can dream to shoot a cull like those, messed up or not...hope they make through the season; be interesting to see if they get their racks back.

that's a shame about those two bucks.

Did the protein get wet in the bossbuck? Looks like the lid came off.

No. It all looked fine. We're in the process of replacing those metal and tube handles with Bungee chords. How did you "hoss" look this month? Looks like Baby Boy stopped growing about the 29th. So much for reaching 180. High 60's to low 70's is our hope now.

Baby boy should be 6 1/2. They'll shoot him this year.

Here are a couple more elk pics. Found him at a different pen.

Dang, I wish he'd have stayed a 10. I wanted that high rack. Hopefully I'll get a chance at him next year.

Shame about all those deer including baby boy... I have a hard time killing deer with big frames or lots of points too... but sometimes I have to to help pay the feed bill...

Trying to get away from it though...

If I had to choose between which of those bucks to fight the hardest for I would probably lobby for the high buck the most... looks to have good long beams and is starting a G-4 on his good side.

I really wouldn't want to kill either of them in their current state...

Here's the buck I sat on last weekend. I'll be out there next month trying to get video of him and lay my eyes on him. If he's not too big or too young, he'll go to the top spot on my list. Both brows are split. Has a really short 4 on the right. I have him right at 60 up. As long as he's under 100 up, he'll do in the size department. Hopefully, he'll be out of velvet when I go back and can get a closer idea how big he is. Don't want to spend a lot of time chasing him and he be too big. Plus, if he's near 60, I'd have to get him past a couple other hunters.
