Cheap bourbon aging

Experiment begins today. I let the barrel swell for 4 days but it had stopped leaking after 2. Flushed it out with filtered water and the water comes out already smelling like bourbon.

This benchmark come from Buffalo Trace distillery and taste like BT that needs to be aged. Will report back in a few months. Hopeful for a top shelf outcome. [emoji6]

It will come out awesome I had one of those that lasted a couple years and put in a variety of bourbon and cheap whiskey in it every one of them came out great !

You can find them on ebay and amazon. They range from really cheap to fairly expensive, more decorative pieces.

Anyone done this with scotch? Looks interesting for sure. Im tossing around the idea of doing a cheaper single malt or well reviewed blend like monkey shoulder and tossing in a couple vanilla beans.
