Thanks for the help, but you're giving me too much credit. My concept of high tech is sitting at the top of the stadium at a Red Raider football game.

I'll get my 16 year old son to translate your directions so I won't clutter the thread with Ol' Fart questions. Thanks!

Got my pup in September and have been working her on a bunch of mock trails and one pig. I am having a blast watching her go.

I am looking at tracking collars. My debate is between the Astro and the Alpha. I have not used a training collar on her to date and all has been fine. How useful/necessary is the training function of the Alpha? Any other advantages to the Alpha besides the training and the touchscreen? Thanks.

            Congrats Taz on the tracks!

Got Delta on a live one a few mornings ago. We are starting to take out doe fawns and had a youth hunter hit one pretty far back. Jumped her up about a 100 yards in and she had her bayed in another 100 or so. By the time I got there she had her pulled down. She didnt bark much when she had her bayed only a few times but guessing because she had tied into her. No pics... it was pretty rough.

Bad news. I've been noticing Taz has week hips and a limp in her left rear leg from time to time. I took her to the vet and had her Xrayed. She has under developed hip joints that pop in and out of place very easy. The vet referred us to a hip specialist in Houston. Appointment next Friday. Hopefully he will have some good news. Really didn't want to hear that but I was expecting it seeing her symptoms. She is turning out to be a really good dog. Family and tracker. Does anyone have any experience with this? If so what should we do?

Very common problem in labs. Have her fixed if she already isn't because that's a genetic trait that you don't want passed on. I've had surgery done on an expensive border collie with good results, she has been able to perform very well for about 10 yrs now. Hopefully they can do the same for Taz.

Really good to hear of someone with good results. She was fixed at 6 months old. That's not a worry. Her hip problems started showing after she was fixed. Just have to wonder if that had anything to do with it. I will sure ask that question next week at our Doc appointment.

Guided a guest yesterday mid day rattling got this buck within 75 yards and not sure what happened. I'm guessing the bullet defected off a piece of brush and hit the buck in the ankle, right above the hoof. We hedged our bet and dropped two dogs. Another guy I work with has a little black mouth cur. Dropped Dimmit and Bullet out about and hour and a half after the shot. Jumped the buck about 400 yards from shot and ended up baying him 3 different times. broke twice before I could make it there hard running in 40 degree temps. The last bay was jut shy of 1000 yards from here they jumped him. Took some video while catching my breathe from running so its a little shaky. I slipped in closer and dropped buck right after the short video with the 357.

                        Video:

                        Buck scored 155-6
