      correct, but when I google compression fitting and can't find anything with tube attached.

          Maybe the ferrel seats in the nut. Or is that the type that uses a rubber tapered part over the tube inside the nut?

            Because it's already compressed to it. Someone just cut the line and that's the scrap end.

              X2. slide the fitting off the other end that isn’t belled of th scrap copper and you have you a compression fitting.

                    Install a ball valve and air line coupling on it to hook into your air compressor hose. Then you can use it to blow out your floorboard and vents in your pickup. And all kinds of other projects that require directed compressed air.
