Grant may represent negative tones to you, but not to the others that actually follow history & want to preserve it, not change or erase it. He was against slavery.

    What are you talking about???
I thought we were discussing the ROBERT E LEE statue
How are you against slavery when you own slaves?
How are you against illegal drugs when you're the biggest drug runnner this side of Nacogdoches?

Oh, i thought you were interested in discussing molestation & abortion.

I'm done wasting my time engaging with you...your approach, the tone always come across trollish & all your posts cause discontent. None of it adds value. Adios.

        LOL why is that?
I don't think Oscar's* father or grandfather could have said much about anything
Let alone look my uncle or aunt in the eyes in New Orleans 100 years ago.
Could they even vote 50 years ago?
        Just barely
But 55 years ago, not so much (easily)

*I'm not picking on Landrover, I'm only using him as an example because he is Black and his dad and granddad did not have a "voice" in New Orleans in 1917.
And I also used him to maybe have you guys FEEL that someone close to you could be emotionally effected by having that statue stand.

Humm...[emoji844]..... .actually my great grandmother was conceived in that manner as was "my mother." Yep, follow closely..... my real great great great grandfather was Caucasian (slave owner) as was my grandfather (plantation aire). I don't want statues or even pictures of them in my living room.....thus a incredibly accurate description of what really occurred. If they had claimed those two girls and raised them my take would be completely opposte. I hope they are burning in hail!!![emoji91]

not enough VOTING RESIDENTS of the city of New Orleans gives a care about this stature
          You see the above link?
They fought Sean tooth and nail before they let him proceed
Actually, I'm sure it was a bunch of money exchanged behind the scenes over a very long period of time

Long story short, the voting residents of New Orleans did NOT want that NYCer coming down and opening a business in their hood so they got vocal about it and fought it

The exact opposite with what is going on with this statue

Maybe the city will auction it off and TBH can get together and buy it???

            I add the opposing side.
You all are in the choir and preach to one another.
Never thinking about how your thoughts or actions may affect 40% of the rest of America.
Only care about your own interest and history.
Some times we need perspective in order to grow as men.

You see when I threw "the uncle that molested someone" out there a lot of souls were touched and things went into a frenzy really quickly.
            Perspective.

Funny thing is school names are being changed right here in Houston (all over texas) because they are named after folks who owned slaves but what is being done about it?
            We vote here.
Are we forcing our politicians to hold town halls or votes on these matters?
            Nope.
We just wait until it shows up somewhere else then we gather around and complain.

Didn't MLK have a sex slave out on the West Coast?

Find a new way to govern because the minorities will actually be MAJORITIES within the next 70 years

You mean just like NO, Chicago, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Oakland, Flint, and Detroit. This is all you have to offer and you're proud of these accomplishments.....SMH

So having a discussion about having a statue removed then molestation gets thrown in the mix...and your trying to validate that comparison. I'm sorry your family went through that and can't imagine how I would feel. That being said there was no reason to bring that into the conversation imo.

                I'm out yall enjoy.

Sex slave or you mean mistress/side piece?
I think it's widely known that MLK was a "ladies man" just not one that is publicized.
But read 4 out of 10 books on him and the topic will be brought up.
MLK was a man, not a saint and definitely not Jesus.

I don't even think she was on "the west coast"
maybe on the "west side of Atlanta"
LOL i don't think the good rev had to go that far

                    You still don't get it.
Robert E Lee & Slavery = an act as depraved as molestation to black folks

It's like mentioning David Duke to them, you won't get many favorable responses
BUT DAVID DUKE IS A PART OF HISTORY THO!

I'm not ultra PC, I simply look at things from the other side of the coin
Would I like it if some goofballs wanted to name a street in my neighborhood after some the guy who swindled my great grandad out of 1,400 acres in East Texas in the 1800s?
                      NOPE!!!
But it's history so I can't deny it, but I don't care for that fella nor his offspring who benefited from his sleezyness.

"Arlington National Cemetery is comprised of land that once belonged to George Washington Parke Custis, grandson of Martha Washington and step-grandson of George Washington. Custis spent his life commemorating Washington and built Arlington House on the 1,100-acre plantation as a memorial to the first president. In 1857, Custis willed the property to his daughter Mary Anna Randolph Custis, who in 1831 had married U.S. Army 2nd Lt. Robert E. Lee."

No group in NO has ever made a big stink about the monuments in the past 100 years.
Very likely most of the city never gave them a second thought and probably most had no idea what or who they represent.
This is puse socialist leaders wanting to disturb people

Mitch Landrieu blames Migration on Monuments. It wasn't the crime, economy, education, hurricanes, flooding, or no jobs etc - it was the monuments ?????

And sadly the non-educated , clueless people believe him

“The cultural and economic and the spiritual loss to this city for having those statues up that have run people out of the city,” Landrieu claimed. “The great migration that sent some of our best and brightest to places across the country that we don’t have the benefit of has been incredible.” ......Mitch Landrieu
