    Electrical question

is it possible and safe to run a 110 receptacle off of a 220 service
the breaker is 30 amp and supplies juice to well pump.
id like to add a light and or heat source inside the well house.
    thanks in advance

2 wires, 3 wires, or 4 wires in that box?
Heat, much more than a light bulb, is going to pull some juice. How many amps is your pump pulling off that 30?

Probably so. You really need to have your ground and neutral separate for the 110 in that situation. Although there are probably millions of set ups like that, where they are tied together.
To do it right will require 10-3, which will require a new wire.

No, you need a separate circuit for that.

              There are 220v lights available.

No, you create an unbalance load situation. It needs a separate circuit.

The cheapest option is to run a separate circuit out there.

This is actually a great idea! There are 240 switches also. You just won’t have a plug out there. I would actually do this?

You can get two 120 volt heat lamps and hook them up in parallel instead of series’s and it will be fine. The only thing is if one lamp burns out both will go out.

Must be in series. Hooked up parallel they will each see 230v.

If the heat is to be used to keep the water tank from freezing, they make 230 volt heat tape. Used in walk-in freezers all the time to keep the drain from freezing.

Or run your 220 to a breaker box
Come off the box with 220 to the pump and another breaker for lights
