    Wild Fruit ID?

What kind is fruit is this and should I be hunting close to it. They were not any left in the tree below 5-6 feet and 0 of them found on the ground. Found a set of hog tracks moving thru but no deer tracks around. The trees were on the bank of a creek right where it meets a nice pond?

Persimmon. All animals eat them. Some places deer prefer them and some not much at all. If you do hunt by the trees, you won’t be bored in the evening. You will most likely see coons, maybe a yote, hog or deer probably in that order.

Mr Garcia in Taylor has two trees in his front yard. I stopped by and asked to gather some from his tree and yard so I could plant some in my creek bottom. He was kind and said yes. He also said local ladies pickem for making wine.

OP...Your fruit looks super ripe and delicious for a fat doe or this skinny guy.

Thanks for the answers. We might have found a honey hole if I can figure out a way to sneak in there and set-up. There is water and were some acorns hitting the ground close by too (not sure what kind of oaks yet.) several huge willow oaks on the banks of the creek and the pond. I did not see any acorns dropping out of the willows this year.

Pretty good eating plus you can crush one or two in your blind for cover scent.

Persimmon for sure. Cut my first seed open and found a spoon. Snow.

Don't eat any yourself until it frosts

At least that is what I was always told unless you want a numb mouth

I don't know how they effect critters

I heard that if you eat any before the frost it’ll turn you into a Wild Man cuz it’s Wild Fruit.

There’s no known cure for Wild Man.

I already got that from my upbringing and sibling. No fruit needed. 🤪
