The Honorable Greg Abbott
Governor of Texas

Dear Gov. Abbott,

I have a lot of pride in my home state and the compassionate, independent spirit of my fellow Texans. That's why I was shocked to learn about the cruelty that pigs are subjected to at something called the "Bacon Bash" held near Bandera.

At this year's event in March, which eyewitnesses recorded, screaming, frightened pigs were chased around an arena. They were grabbed by their ears, tails, and snouts and hauled by their legs while their faces were dragged through the sand and they desperately tried to escape. Participants tackled pigs, jumped on them, and hit them, and event staff kicked them in the head.

This violent spectacle encourages children and adults alike to scare, injure, and torment animals for entertainment. The world doesn't need more bullies. Texas law prohibits inflicting unnecessary and unjustified pain and suffering on animals, so I implore you to make sure that the law is upheld here-and to issue an executive order banning this event.

Thank you for your attention to this crucial matter.

Sincerely,

Woody Harrelson

So , It's ok for your Dad to be a Hit man and kill a federal judge and possibly JFK but it's not OK to chase a pig around and not really hurt it . LOL !

He’s entitled to his opinion. Me, I like the sound of a pig squealing when you hit em with an arrow. Guess me and Woody can’t be friends.

Ol Woody sure don't know a lot about pigs. Pig squeal. A LOT! That's what pigs do. For no reason at all. They squeal in delight, or just to hear their head rattle. They are much like AOC, Pelosi and Mad Maxine only prettier.

we went to the event this year, my 5 yr old and 2 old had a blast. not nearly the nightmarish childhood ruining type of event that it seems to be being painted as. Its not much different than a calf scramble they just happen to use pigs!

Pretty hypocritical considering some of the movies he's made. Add another to the do not watch list.

He needs to go pig trapping that would make him forget about the roundup or bash.

The Hunger Games series. Woody stars in that movie which is based on a series of books. The premise of the "games" is they take CHILDREN, put them in an arena, give them weapons and the winner is the one that survives. And "civilized" people bet on the outcome.

I guess since it's only a movie (and he makes $$$ from it), it's OK. WOW.

Since when did "cruelty" to animals become such a bigger issue than "cruelty" to humans?????

He’s a liberal arts vegan nut job actor. What do ya expect? But I like his acting and nothing says I have to agree with someone in every aspect of their life in order for me to respect or enjoy what that do.

I walked out of Natural Born Killers. Talk about something I would not want my kids to watch. The only movie the wife and I have ever walked out of and apparently we were not the only ones. The movie house mang was standing outside waving folks over to the ticket counter for refunds.

4-H event for the kids?

WH is a certified nut case. Most likely from being sexually explored by Harry Weinstein to get cast in movies.

So his family history is better known than I thought. I did not realize many people knew about his father's doings. His father used to hang out in some shady bars many years ago. Someone I knew years ago, hung out in some of those same shady places. That person, told me some interesting stories about his father.

With the movies he has been in, after what his father has done. Then he wants to write to the governor about this event. I hope Abbott got a good laugh out of that letter.

You mean, you wouldn’t want your children to watch a movie called, “ natural born killers”? Did you think you were walking into a Disney flick?

We have a pig scramble at our county Fair every year. They grease up a bunch of 50 lb pigs and whoever catches one and gets them in a burlap sack gets $25 for each pig. It's pretty awesome and always brings out the counties most prized citizens
