Boone, that is a very unique deer. You should win some award for him. Big mature deer too. Hope you got him before he busted a nut.

I treated him the I would want to be treated in that situation. He was happy when he passed.

I'm leaving now. Seen a very small spike that refused to come in to my kill zone. Scouted a place I'd planned on hunting tomorrow and seen 2 big bucks together but I was driving. I'm going to try to come back before Christmas but I doubt I make it. Good luck to the rest of you going.

I saw 1 deer...in the camping area...5 feet from the driver's side of my parked car.

It was extremely frustrating to have that after my first sit out there where I saw 4 deer in the same area. 1st season hunting deer, guess doing public land only is gonna make the learning curve a bit tougher.

I see them all the dang time when I'm not hunting. October we went and put out stuff in the truck and walked back to where we were hunting and seen 3 bucks right in the area I was hunting. Just got to keep after it.

just got home from the forest. everything is moving at night your best bet is to sleep in and get in the stand at 10 and hunt till dark. I killed my buck now im trying to get a spike and cant seem to find one.

You might want to get out of the creek drainages and bottom land. Acorns are gone and the deer are looking for high and dry thickets with browse.

So when did Ho Co open the ML season to include 13"+ bucks? I was thinking it had been just does and unbranched antler bucks through last year, but didn't find anything highlighting a change. Has it always been this way during ML season?

Sidenote: The way the state lists the buck limits for ML season after "Antlerless Deer:" is confusing to me (bottom of page). Kinda makes is look like there is only a season for antlerless at first glance.

I'll be either in DC or Angelina Friday-Sunday. Been out all but maybe 2 weekends since the start of gun season and have yet to kill a deer in the forest. Got a couple decent spots where I saw does during general season so I'm hoping.
