    Live Hunt: Nilgai

I’m hunting 18,500 acres outside of Encino. We got to the ranch late last night and started hunting this morning.

Everything is on the table. Javelina, Turkey, Nilgai and Varmints.

This morning we hunted from the top drive and I shot a cow in the first 45 min. My buddy shot his cow over a waterhole about 5 min. after I shot mine.

We spotted a rattlesnake crossing the road. We lopped his head off. It still freaks me out that their body moves 2 hours after they’ve been killed.

Tonight I’m sitting over a fence crossing where they have a few bulls on camera over the past few days.

No bulls yet but I’ve had the same snake cross the road in front of me twice, light colored body, about 5ft long. Not a rattlesnake. Also had a turkey walk up behind the Bush I’m sitting in and scare the crap out of both of us.

It’s about 90 with a 18-20mph wind from the SW.

This is the 3rd time this snake has crossed in front of me. He’s about 40 yards away. Any idea what kind of snake?

I know pic quality isn’t the best. I had to zoom in quite a bit.

                  The Santa Fe.

                  Snake is a coachwhip. I’ve seen him 4 more times. He’s a busy son-of-a-gun.

I’ve got some turkey down the road about 150 yards. Pretty sure the .375 is a tad too much for one.

Niiiiiiiiice! Spot and stalk on nilgai bulls is a great tactic.

On my .375, yes. I shot the cow with my 7 RM and it’s scoped.

Had a group of 4 javi cross the rd about 75 yards. Shot at the last one and missed. They’re quick! Just as I shot I heard 4 shots not too far away, hopefully someone else got a bull.
