Those high fences are the ticket for catching cats. Of all the snaring I have done I catch more cats in high fences. There is the proof that cats usually go over fences instead of under.

I picked up a couple Reds in snares today. Pretty muddy for trapping around here. Happy for the rain and looks like more on the way.

Nice pair of reds BT!

I wish we had fox here, but the coyotes have long since killed them off.

With hunting season in full swing I havenít had much time to set out any traps; and when I have, itís been raining.

On my last round I managed to get eleven traps out, and came up with three first night catches.

Coyotes were traveling along the smooth track to the right side of the sendero.

The double dirt hole set is on the upwind side of the trail.

This little shortcut trail is only about thirty yards long, and is was being used exclusively by coyotes.

I set three blind sets at pinch points along the trail. The sets produced three coyotes in two nights.

Great catches!!

Man. I may need to have one of yíall come out and walk around my place with me. Iíve been trapping for 3 years, this is my second year on this place and so far havenít been able to connect on a single yote. Iíve gotten grey fox, bobs and raccoons in my footholds but Iím really hungering for a coyote. Donít know if Iím setting in the wrong place, if my sets are garbage or if they donít like the type and amount of lure I use. I do know the amount of time I have to let the traps sit is hurting. Longest stretch I can have em out is about 5 days. Just donít live close enough to have them out and check them every day.

But seeing all of yíallís successes is keeping my interest and motivation high! Keep Ďem coming!!

These South Texas coyotes donít need to be hungry to hit a dirt hole set.

This Male was so dog bellied he looked like he was about to pop!

That didnít stop him from investigating that double dirt hole stuffed with tasty morsels of venison goodness.

Those are some fat yotes.

Last year we had a plethora of cottontails I'm sure they've had plenty to eat.

Where in water valley are you trapping? Im in sterling and take care of a place over there right north of the Roadside park. Have sold any hides yet? I keep hearing they are gonna be low unless you have one with big spots. I know last year I watched the buyers turn down cat after cat at the contest. Yet I had some every contest they wanted bad enough to offer in $150-200

I trap the Walnut Rd. area and several places all around Water Valley. Sounds like we are working pretty close to each other. Coyotes are sure moving in to the area. I had two caught today on Walnut.
I haven't sold anything yet but prices don't sound great. Nice cats will be worth keeping I would say. I sent all my cats to a Canadian auction last year and did ok. I still have four up there that haven't sold yet though.

I will probably send them to NAFA again if I catch enough. I have only caught one cat so far. I am going to keep a few of the better grey fox too I think. If nothing else be good practice on stretching.

I had a few IM's about tossing together some footage for another video...its rendering and covers the predator line, I didn't shoot any video on the other critters..

Once its done rendering I will do day two that we spent up there working with OWD and a few local ranchers.
