Take a fan! Heat can be brutal in those woods during Summer.

True story.... and at least one other tbhr was there to share in this "eat what we catch / kill" survival trip. We stayed at "Crip's Camp" in Uncertain, TX several years ago. Seven of us rented 2 cabins and stayed there for about week. Think it cost us about $30 each for the whole week. I'm sure a lot has changed since then but it was a complete dump when we stayed there.

It was perfect for us being right out of highschool. Kept our boats tied up right in front of the cabins and had a stray pit bull that hung around and stayed on our porch while we ran lines and fished. We made it living off the land for about 24 hrs. Then realizing we were not the woodsmen we thought we were, one group went to town for supplies while the others stayed to add to the 3 barely legal bass we had to feed all 7 of us for the week. The group from town retuned with 10 cases of beer, a bag of potatoes and 1 loaf of bread. Had to make that trip again more than once. We finally ended up with enough fish for one meal on the last night. We learned that "eat what you catch" trips are WAY overrated, but we lived to tell the story of our survival trip to Caddo lake.

Sorry for rambling and I know I wasn't much help but man those we're some good times. Good luck and hope you have a blast where ever you stay!

For bass there is a 14"-18" slot limit now so catching "keepers" is fairly easy...or was last time I was there.

It is an awesome lake. Truly a natural wonder!

I lived at Uncertain for 15 years and you might check with Shady Glade (903-789-3295). I hope this a current number. For guide service, Billy Carter at Johnson's Ranch. I have been catching bream every week and bass are biting too. Moss, pads, and salvinia(?) aren't too bad and water level is good. State Park 903-679-3351 and I think Crips is still open.
