    Canyon Lake fishing

Anyone ever fish from shore in Canyon Lake near the dam? What type of fish are there, how deep is it and what did you use for bait?

    Thanks

It’s pretty slim pickings on fishing reports @canyon

Never from shore but it's tough out there. I hear of people cathing good bass along the dam on crank baits. I've only caught fish on deeeeeeeep diving crank baits. Shot many fish with a bow though.

It’s pretty poor lake for fishing.

I lived on the lake in high school.

Good luck, try crankbaits on thst side of the lake

^ Link above has lat/long of structure placed to attract fish.

I've never fished from the bank, but I'd recommend North Park.
Point 19 is probably within reach from bank.

I jug fish at night, with live perch and drop at the lake hump (points 20 and 43).
Breeze pushes my jugs past the point in North park.
I catch blues and channel cats.

Catfish from Canyon taste good, water is cool and clear.
            Good luck.

This X2. From the shore near the dam the cat fishing might be ok with a stink bait or live perch.
