If it is a 89 model, it should probably have an aluminum roof. If so, get some roll on roof coating and coat the entire roof.

If this is the case you should look at one of the systems from a roofing wholesale store, something like Gaco or Er systems. I personally use Gaco and it's an awesome product

That's what I would of guessed. So get something like Kool Seal?
