How long will a hide keep in the refrigerator before being frozen? Son shot an axis last week and we usually freeze the hide and ship it to the tannery in Denton. I forgot about the hide and will probably be a couple of weeks before it is frozen. Should the hide be ok to keep refrigerated for a couple of weeks?

I'm not an expert but the answer is no. It won't make it that long without being frozen. It is probably ruined already. -
Anything more than about a week the hair will start slipping...sooner if it's wet or not real cold. No way will it last a few weeks.Comment

Sounds like you could still get some nice raw hide, no hair. Get some trappers hide formula tanning mix and do it yourself. Not very hard, just some work while breaking it.Comment
