I guess those knee pads come in handy when trying to get your wife to cut a check for that boat...
Jealous, very nice rig!!

Good luck, another TBH (capn)member is fishing it.

Oh man - let me know! I have several tarpon worthy fly setups ready to go! The 10wt has 600 yards of braid backing, sinking flyline on a blank specifically built for the poons, kings, ling and jackfish. I can trailer my flats skiff if another boat needs to go to cover super skinny spots. Pile of tarpon flies as well - solid mix of colors.

Think we may need to have a gathering soon - once the warm up gets us into the prime time?

Tripletail in Matagorda Bay.....on fly, never know, always wanted to give that a shot too! Nearly 10lb on fly is the current State record, 34lbs casting tackle record.
Thx! Will definitely give you a shout once water warms up.

We got into a mess of undersized triple tail last year about two miles out on a slick day, had a blast catching on 8 wts even if no eaters.

Both sides of the highway on the east side of the causeway, around the powder horn bridge on 1298, or the little jetties in POC. All 3 can be fished without getting your feet wet.

Quite possibly the perfect boat for the Tx coast.

After you run it for a year and order a new one, let me know and maybe I値l take it off your hands. What kind of power is she getting?

I was going to fish tomorrow but the Blue Northern shoveling down onto the coast, will have me backed off till Sunday. And even Sunday, I may opt to not engage. Not prime for coastal fishing. The pains of SpringTime coastal fishing in Texas.

Ok, I've got some new reels now I need some new rods. are custom rods worth it? or should I just get off the shelf? I have been using my old Allstars and G Loomis for the past 13 years, time to upgrade. I look at the Shimano ML someone mentioned earlier and it felt good. what else do you recommend and if custom, who do you recommend?

There are some great off the shelf rods that are basically custom, unless you want specific color wraps. Check out the higher end Waterloo and Laguna rods.

Our trip Saturday was pretty much a dud, as I expected. Caught one trout on a top water, the guide caught a couple on plastics, no trout caught on shrimp. We were off the water by 9:30. The other guys in the boat called it because they were cold.
Ready for some warm weather and ready to get on the water again.

The bite didn't kick off until about an hour or so after the front hit. The fish turned on pretty good but my guys got too cold too and we had to go in. It was blowing real hard but the fish were eating.

Went this morning after work. Got in the water at 8:05 and out at 9:30.

Tide was about 1 1/2' lower than last week. Sandy green mostly on the sandy side. Sand bottom with rocks mixed in. Fished in middle water column.

Caught 13 trout. Kept 3 around 17". Lost 1 in my hands that was about 18". Missed 4. The ones released were 13-15".

Pic won't load from phone. Going again in the morning.

Wife and I made a quick trip Tuesday after noon-Wednesday after noon fished hard Tuesday and managed just a few Black drum and 2 reds one 29 that the wife released. Wednesday we managed 7 keeper trout and 2 more reds.

Most fish were caught on live shrimp I couldn稚 get a bite on artificial hardly at all.

I wished. Just like mine except color, my midtower is 4' taller and I think I have bigger tanks than this one. My total fuel will be 120 gal.

Very shallow, rough, and solid hull. I've been in one with that motor, did not feel underpowered with 3 of us in there.

In Mansfield for the rest of the week. Woke up to 20 mph winds that ended up 30 shortly after sunrise. Found the reds, trout were hard to come by. Going to grind it out, wind isn't supposed to let up.

My friend Jan (Matchejm is his user name) runs that same set up. It's not under powered at all. It's a great setup. Check with him about it.

What reels do y’all recommend for wade fishing? Looking at the 13 fishing concept a, interception, and a inshore smoke.

Well the thing with a lot of those tunnel hulls (flats cat is not really a true tunnel more of cat) that the design really only want to go so fast and putting a bigger motor on the back really gets you nowhere. Now some of the newer cat boats will run a lot faster and the big motors work good on them.

I've spent a whole bunch of time on a mid-90's model 21' Flats Cat with a 115 on it. Started out with a 112 Spl on it and later repowered with a 115 Etec. A buddy of mine bought it in the late '90's from his cousin, still owns it and still fishes out of it today. I'm guessing he has owned it 20 years and it is probably 24 or 25 years old.

It's a solid fishing boat. It runs shallow and gets up shallow. It's not a speed demon but isn't ever going to be one no matter what you put on it. I don't know that I'd want to run one 50+ mph anyway. With a 140 it'll probably run 40ish mph.

It was windy yesterday but we scratched out a box of fish drifting deep shell. I caught a nice trout, she went 28" but I didn't weight her. Nice thick fish.

I have been using Cajun Thunder popping corks for the last several years with success with DOA and Gulp under them. Anyone using them or trying anything else?
