Well I've done some carving with power tools but I got the itch to do a gunstock and use only hand tools. So my 2 sets of Ramelson gouges and chisels came in day before yesterday and I played around with the basket weave and fish scale patterns. Also found out my 60 degree veiner tool was messed up emailed ramelson at around 8. They've already sent me a confirmation that my new tool is in the mail. Out of 12 that were perfectly sharpened this one had a chip and crack but they know how to keep a happy customer. Anyway, so I'm gonna practice a few more times but ultimately I'm gonna do a bear in the woods scene on the stock, basket weave around the handgrip, and a diamond with fish scales on each end of the forend. I'll keep this updated as I make progress.

Wellllll the cougar was a fail. The cedar just peeled up and took out a huge chunk of its face.
Met a master engraver though who gave me some names and classes I could attend. Including 1 that is over 5 years and sends me to Europe for a year or 2 but if I could even make half the quality he did I'd be set. Amazing pieces.
New practice for the grip
