    Ticks On Cape

I was fortunate enough to shoot my best buck to date over the weekend. His eyelids and backs of his ears are covered in ticks. It has been several days and the ticks are still on it. I'd feel bad taking a tick infested cape to a taxidermist. Is there an easy way other than tweezers to get these things off with ruining the cape? Or should I just leave em?

I'm sure it's a pretty common thing for taxidermists to see. I'd take it to them and just preface the handoff with a "hey, btw...". They probably have a tried and true method of removing them.

Gross. I would just bag it up tight and maybe they will suffocate.

Throw it in the freezer overnight

It's been on ice since I shot it. Haven't had access to a freezer. The ticks are dead but still attached.

Come on, guys. Give a fella a little credit. I may have been born at night but it wasn't last night. I know enough to get a cape on ice

I would just take in. Tell the taxi you want to keep the natural tick look and see what kind of face he makes.

Ticks can't be worse than the STUPIDITY thread.

That’s a fact. I bet he would welcome some ticks!

Just now had a chance to check out the "STUPIDITY" thread. No chainsaw was involved in the caping of my deer. My wife is actually the one that caped my buck while I sat back drinking a red beer.
