    Damascus / Rams horn knife.

Feels good to be back at the grinder again. I still have a lot of custom orders to get caught up on from being gone, but I like creating new knives. This one is
416 layers of Alabama Damascus Steel, tempered to 60 HRC. Hammered Brass Bolsters. Stabilized Rams Horn with yellow liners and file work on the spine. It's .160 thick. This is an all around knife.

How long does it take to make one of these, roughly? Looks great !

Not including tempering process, about three or four hours and 30 minutes for the sheath. You have to also understand I've been doing this over 20 years and have all the tools for every process.
A few years ago when I wasn't doing any consulting work, I started every Monday starting 10 to 15 knives every week.

I'll bet that new grinder speeds up the process a lot. I spend a lot of time just changing belts and fixtures on my single grinder. I can see where a feller could easily use 3 or 4 grinders all for different things.

Yes sir it speeds up things a lot, one grinder for profiling, one for grinding, and one for shaping handles.
