Saw my first one in southeast Texas just this week

See quite a few around Greenville. The furthest north was near Bogata, in Red River county.

So where there are a lot of Caracara's, are they competing against our native buzzards, or just filling a void.......like our workforce?

I've seen them in Hopkins. Hood, Dallas, and Hunt counties. One of my favorite looking birds.

I have seen one between Rockwall and Terrell several times the last couple of years

We see them in Navarro County quite a bit. We are out near the lake.

Have them all over here in Fairfield, but we arent really North Texas.

They are native, north TX is the northern extent of their range. Much more common down south though.

Has anyone seen a Caracara in north Texas?
