    Peacock Bass fishing recommendations

I have some flight credits that I need to burn and was thinking about heading to Miami for some Peacock Bass, or whatever.

Anyone done this before and have any input or recommendations?

    I appreciate your thoughts.

    Thanks.

I fished with Alan Zaremba a few years ago and had an incredible day sight fishing for them on beds. It might be a little too late for that this year. I think the final count in about 5hours was 17 with 2-3 over 4lbs.

I want to go big with a Amazon trip soon. Checked out around Ecuador and they still use a lot of dynamite to fish. Fish population is way down................

Alan Zaremba for sure...caught a 4.5lb and a 7.25lb plus a ton of smaller fish all on the fly. Keep an open mind, it's 'different' as you're fishing residential canals, but a lot of fun!

I had a great time, It’s a super fun trip. Be sure to take bait for Midas cichlids and go for clown knife fish as well

Fished with Frank (Hawghunter) a couple of years ago, and my wife and I had a blast and caught lots of peacocks up to 6lbs.

What’s a trip cost to do it in the Amazon?

5k and up. I was scheduled to fish there in 2016 and the guy I was going with got hurt in a wreck a month before we were to leave.

Not exactly Miami but we used South Florida Bass Charters in Del Ray Beach area this past summer. Capt Bill was great with my kids and they caught alot of fish. Peacocks, Largemouths, Gar, and Clown Knife Fish.

I am just curious, why are these only in FL?

Fished lake Ida a couple of years ago in July. They were spawning at that time. The fish are great to catch and the wife and I had a blast. Went through an organization called bass online. Guide fees are very reasonable there. Capt. Brett was good. It's different fishing for sure.

                            Kinda

The state intentionally began releasing peacock bass in those waterways to help fight Somme other type of invasive fish
                            They started in the mid80s

But the warm water definitely helps them grow

That makes sense. Was just curious why we don't have them in LA with similar climate and water.
