Lay it on the floor crown down. If it starts looking used and dirty, it becomes a working hat that you don't mind chunking at a calf or cow to turn them in a muddy pen. Hats are a tool.

I don’t often wear a hat but always take my cap off when eating. I don’t really notice anyone else doing it but I’ve been doing it so long it feels weird eating with it on.
