As someone has said, with the new Texas BBQ revolution that started a few years back there is quality brisket all over the place. When I fire up my pit these days I cook lean healthy meats. Rarely cook brisket anymore. Between the BBQ trailer in Wimberley and 3 great spots in San Marcos it's too easy to grab lunch real quick. Heck even Dallas and Houston have quality brisket at a few spots which used to not be the case.

For brisket once you get it to top quality it's hard to make it any better so saying one place is definitely the best is silly.

Too many favorite BBQ joints to pick just one but Valentina's Tex Mex BBQ is a trailer about a mile down the street from my house and its some pretty dang good stuff. Anyone close to the south Austin area that hasn't tried it is thoroughly missing out.

Don't be afraid to swing by for breakfast either. They wont be the cheapest breakfast tacos by any means but I have never had a better breakfast taco anywhere else.

1st, if you can't cut the brisket with a fork it ain't worth a dam. Same with chicken fried steak so here are 2 of the best and we've ate at a lot of BBQ joints and several of those mentioned before:

1. Hammonds in Glen Rose
2. Loco Coyote off 67 between Glen Rose and Stephenville

Not asked for but absolutely the best, most tender Chicken Fried Steak in Texas and not many have ever heard about it:

Pure Country about 3 miles north of Granbury off Hwy 51. Little hole in the wall cafť that makes the dangest breakfast as well. Mom & Pop cafť!

Mustang Creek on 59 between El Campo and Louise is great so is McMillan's in Fannin. I like the sausage that the Mikeska boys make in El Campo but not their bbq.

Franklin's in Austin is a step above every bbq place I've ever eaten but I won't stand in line outside to eat it again.
