Default Aaron Hernandez series

I had no real desire to watch this 3 part series. Not a Patriots fan at all. My wife turned it on the other night, and it was really pretty interesting.

I knew he was convicted of murder and that he killed himself in jail.

But, wow the details behind all of that really revealed a lot.

Anyway, I thought it was worth a little more than 3 hours of my time (so much we watch, probably not).

And the way it ended, with something that may at least provide a partial explanation for his behavior, was well done too.

Full disclosure: I do like the forensic files and cold case type shows. This is just a longer more detailed version of one of those.

Dangit. I refused to watch it but this is the third time i've heard this. I gues i'll check it out. I'm a fan of the forensic files type shows as well.

Which one did you watch? Netflix came out with one, then shortly after A&E aired one. I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't fall back to sleep last week, so I turned Netflix on...ended up watching all 3 parts! It was really good.

CTE was covered at the end of the series. The doctor who examined his brain basically said he had it and as bad of shape as his brain was in, she would never have believed he was only 27 when he died.

He had basically all of the symptoms of CTE.

It was never said, "he did what he did because of CTE". But more like, oh & this (CTE) could sure have been a factor.

How big of a factor? Who can say.

In the Netflix series, not really. It was focused more on his "secret life" of a thug stuck in the closet.

Did they touch on his college career and Urban Meyer? Was going to watch this weekend.

There is a podcast on Hernandez called Gladiator that was REALLY good. It explains how he got to where he was in life starting at childhood. After listening to that podcast, I feel for Aaron, but still agree he needed to be in prison, along with serious counselling.

Kinda one of those things where you take a guy already prone to and used to this type of violence and life, throw in brain damage and trauma, and you get a recipe for disaster. The cause...doubtful. But when you add an accelerant to a smoldering fire.... Shame though. He had all the tools and money to escape the cycle.

I watched it to and thought it was interesting.

I also heard that there was a possibility he was involved in a murder during his college years. Does anyone know anything about that?

I just finished the Netflix series. It was really done well. Everyone knew how messed up he was but turned the blind eye because of his talent, Urban Meyer, Bill B., etc.
No telling how many people he murdered. I still can't believe he shot his friend in the face...who LIVED to tell about it . And I don't understand how his fiance is not in jail....she was an accessory to murder hiding the weapons, etc. Video of her hauling that stuff out the back door. But she doesn't remember where she put it? Lol.

It further supports my opinion that Urban Meyer is a bad dude. Story after story of Urban just using people, then throwing them out like trash when he is done with them.

I watched it and it was very interesting, I think there was factors in his life that causes him to act out the way he did. Do I blame the CTE, his mom moving in his cousins husband right after his father died, his sexuality, or the bad crowd he was hanging out with? It all played a factor but he made bad choices. I think once he went to play ball at Florida he was hanging out with the wrong crowd and got away with things that a normal person wouldn’t. Not too many gangsters come out of Connecticut...

Reading a novel by James Patterson "All American Murder" that really reveals how messed up Hernandez was. I'm at the chapters when he was playing for the Gators.

My wife and I read a lot and since I really like Patterson's Alex Cross novels, we after my wife read it I decided to as well.

Based on his life and factual, it's a good read if anyone's interested. So far he was spiraling down hill when he went to Florida at age 17.

You are spot on. I would add, he was also molested as a child.

Trust me, I had no plans of watching any of it further. I agree that it's not going to go anywhere but me and mine also don't have to have it injected into out lives everyday . Netflix is bad about slipping it into their shows to constantly show you it and hopefully make you accustomed to it. It's a mental disorder that is running rampant in America. I work side by side with a lesbian everyday, she doesn't say a word about her personal life and I definitely don't ask. I'm fine with that as I want to be left alone and do whatever I want in my personal life also. I just hate it when it's shoved down our throats.

I am/was afraid it was going to be an apology documentary saying he committed the crimes due to repeated hits to the head playing football..and thus refused to watch it.
Is that not the case?

Not really, much deeper than that drug abuse, sexuality, who he hung out with, being molested, family issues, not being held accountable played a big part of it as well. CTE is mentioned towards the end but several other issues also. pretty sure I watched the A&E one

Yeah the Netflix Version was not at all apologetic. Just more of a 'this is all the stuff he had going on in his life' sort of thing. And he had a lot going on, not the least of which was being an immature 17 yr old off on his own to college (Florida) and then a 20 year old with millions of dollars. And if he had any good influences in his life, they didn't show it.

Still, there was no attempt to cover up the fact that he made lots of bad decisions - & got away with most of them, for a time.
