Default Dream Home Finally Built

Well, we finally did it. We built our dream home. Instead of giving to a play-by-play during construction, I decided to wait until it was finally complete to post it up.

Day 1: site clearing and pad work

We poured it in two phases as we dropped the slab in the garage so we weren't fighting the grade. This gave a ton of volume for the garage for storage.

After about a month of allowing the concrete to cure, framing started.

So after a brief (and I mean like 30 minutes of rest), it was on to landscaping as she won the battle regarding a pool.

Back yard boulders

Irrigation trenching

Then sod

The last project thus far has been a privacy fence that I wanted to get creative with. Wanted for it to have a large hidden gate.

I work for a construction company but have my degree in architecture. We mainly do commercial though. To save money though, I put in a ton of sweat equity into this from sight work, all of the electrical, installing plumbing fixtures, doors & trim, paint, staining the concrete...just to name a few major items. I did utilize most of our own subs to help keep costs down.

Aquamarine Pools. You've probably seen their fiberglass pools displayed along the interstates in random places. Took about 2 weeks from start to finish. This one is 12x24. 3-1/2' to 5-1/2' in depth.
