Actually it was 25 years ago yesterday that i woke up in detox not knowing where the hell I was at.....Thought my life was over and there was no way I could ever have "fun" again without drinking. After several days of in-house treatment I realized I could never do it on my own. There was a little chapel in the facility and one night I just went in and hit my knees. I wasn't a religious guy but when you got no where else to turn and you know it, then you'll try anything. I told God that I knew I was powerless and wanted His help. He's still helping me to this day 25 years later. What a Friend I have!
I know plenty of drunks that can never stay on the wagon and the common denominator is none of them truly accepted defeat and asked Him to help. Pride comes before the fall.
It wasn't easy and I had (still do) to do my part but I have more fun now and have more true peace than I ever have in my life.
If your struggling, hopefully these words can help.
That is all.
