Since Oktoberfest starts in the Schottenhamel and they serve Spaten I think the choice is easy....plus its great beer.

Hofbrau or Paulaner. Those are the main beers they drink in Germany during Oktoberfest. There is even a Hofbrau Haus in Munich. It is awesome and holds 3,000 people during Oktoberfest.

I'm a Paulaner guy for Oktoberfest. I love some of the locals take at the style, but that's the real deal.

Lager. Im sick of having Augustfest here in Texas. That beer is meant for the fall and we get served it when its still in the high 90s.

Spaten Oktoberfest was the taste test winner last night...the wife and brother. I put in an order for a 1/2 barrel a short while ago. I liked’em all. Honestly I wanted a 1/4 barrel of all three oktoberfest biers...but not available in 1/4s only 1/2s.

Also ordered 1/4 barrels of:
Real Ale Firemans 4...most consumed beer at last years fest
512 Pecan Porter...because its delicious

Light beer drinkers get cans.

Warsteiner...I like...but not real popular amongst the family so it didnt get entertained.

This, 1000%. All the seasonals come out a full month too early these days. Shiner is the worst, they will already be out of Shiner Cheer and onto the spring seasonal the week before Christmas.

I think its time to stop...
Were getting 5 kegs for our Oktoberfest:
1/2 barrel of Spaten Oktoberfest(...just noticed its actually a malt liquor!)
1/2 barrel of Altstadt Lager...for the light beer drinkers
1/4 barrel of 512 Pecan Porter
1/4 barrel of Real Ale Firemans Four
1/4 barrel of Real Ale Imperial Stout...aka Commissar

Prost!

Just found out this info about beer taps and figured Id pass it along...

American beers use a D-Tap.
The Spaten Oktoberfest keg will need an A-Tap
European beer companies will use one of three taps... an A-tap, S-tap or G-tap. It should be that we purchase a coupler or adapter for one of the kegerators to accomodate the A-tap. The American kegerators “should” already be fitted for an American D-tap.

That Alstadt brewery is no joke. That Kolsch from draught is amazing sauce. So floral. All their stuff is good.
Oh and its till 100 thousand degrees outside.

I'm jealous! Went to Sams today to get a case of Sam Adams Octoberfest and they were already sold out. Hopefully Bucees has some Friday!
