    Lost my hunting partner

My Lab, Skeet, died Monday morning, the vet thinks it was from a twisted stomach. Bad part is I think it was caused from a bone I had given him on Saturday. By the time I contacted my vet and we went to get him, it was to late. What a great dog, good in the field and good at home. For what its worth, I never had a problem with giving my dogs uncooked bones. All the deer I processed, I saved the bones for the dogs. I know some people debate the bone issue, and I'm not here trying to tell you what to do, I just know the will not give another bone to one of my dogs. After yesterday, its just not worth the risk.
Happy hunting partner, sure gonna miss you.

Sad to hear. Way too many of these threads. I love mine like he was my child. Can't even think about him being gone.

I'm so sorry for your loss, it is hard to lose such a great member of the family. Take solace, though, I highly doubt it was the bone. Labs twist their stomachs a lot and for no apparent reason. It could have been the storm front that blew through.

Very sorry to hear. I've been there. It really sucks. Didn't even hunt for about 5 years after. It just wasn't fun anymore.
